Benita V. García, age 71, of La Mesilla, NM, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the family home.
Benita was preceded in death by her infant son, Johnny Patrick García, parents, Gabriel and Josefita Valdéz, sisters, Margaret Archuleta and Odelia García, brother, Gusmán Valdéz and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Juan B. and Marina A. García.

On the day of her passing she was happy caring for her beautiful flowers and grandchildren. Benita and her husband owned and operated Valley Monument Company for over 25 years. Benita was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always gave her time freely to those she cared for.
Benita will be dearly missed.
Benita is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, José C. García, children, Lucille Bustos and her husband, Jimmy of Arlington, TX, Joe García and Jeanene Sparks, Paul García and his wife, Lori, Julie Martínez and her husband, Ray and Phillip García and his wife, Heather, all of La Mesilla, NM, brothers, Gabe Valdéz and his wife, Margie of Albuquerque, NM and Felix Valdéz and his wife, Lorraine of Bernalillo, NM, sister, Lillie Holcomb of Los Alamos, NM, grandchildren, Jimmy Jr., Mark, Dana, Christopher, Sean, Danna, Jodi Lynn, Mikayla, Kayanna, Jarrod , Jessica, Skylor, Mario and Mateo and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.
A wake service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with interment to follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at 1:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Jr., Mark, Christopher, Sean, Jarrod, Skylor and Mario.
