LINDSAY — Services for Anna Mae Block, 83, of Lindsay are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Scheible, O.S.A., and Fr. Pat Murphy, O.S.A., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Block died Aug. 29, 2006, at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1923, in Lindsay, the second of six children to Val and Clara Wiese Dieter. On May 11, 1957, she married Wilbert Block in St. Peter's Church. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1940. After working for Convair in Fort Worth, she was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 14 years. Later on, she was employed at Linda Jo Shoe Company and Hutcherson Insurance Agency, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed her grandchildren, her flowers, gardening, canning and dominoes and card games. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and St. Anne's Society.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbert J. Block of Lindsay; daughters and sons-in-law, Natalie and Dale Ray Alexander of Lindsay, and Annette and Bill Bayer of Muenster; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Brenda Block, Glenn and Sonya Block of Lindsay and Tim Block of Lindsay; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Rudy Dieter of Lindsay, Francis Dieter of Dallas and Val Dieter of Pasadena.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Bierschenk; brother, Jerome Dieter; and son-in-law, Don Alexander.
Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.
The Rosary will be recited at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Thursday.
