Daughter of Zack Smith and Emma Prevatte Coleman, wife of Pearlie DuBose Alford.

Lois Alford, 81, widow of P. D. ALford Jr., died Friday, July 11, 2008 in Carolinas Hospital System in Florence.

She was born on July 30, 1926, a daughter of the late Zack and Emma Coleman. Mrs. Alford was a retired employee of Heritage Sportswear of Marion, where she worked for over 40 years. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and an active member of the Women's Missionary Union.

Surviving Mrs. Alford are a son, Jimmy Alford of Marion; a brother, Zack Coleman Jr. of Marion; a sister, Blanch James of Marion and 1 granddaughter..

She was predeceased by a sister, Sara Williams.

Services were at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008 in Friendship Baptist Church, Gresham. Burial followed in Tabernacle Cemetery in Gresham, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
