Daughter of Zack Smith and Emma Prevette Coleman, wife of Arthur Legrand James.

MARION - Mrs. Blanche Coleman James, 87, widow of Arthur Legrand James, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Marion Nursing Center.

Mrs. James was born October 30, 1923 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Zack and Emma Prevatte Coleman. She was a retired sales clerk. Mrs. James was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Lillian Hilliard Sunday School Class.

Surviving Mrs. James are her daughter, Cheryl J. Thomas (Billy) of Marion; a brother, Zack Coleman (Jean) of Marion; and 2 grandchildren.

Mrs. James was predeceased by two sisters, Sara Williams and Lois Alford.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, May 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Reedy Creek Baptist Church sanctuary, with Rev. Darrell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Reedy Creek Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
