Mrs. Martha Minerva Cease, 65, wife of John A Cease, died at her home in Orrtanna Saturday evening at 7:30 from the effects of a stroke suffered Monday, January 2. She had been in ill health for 10 years but had been able to be about until last Monday. The stroke left her unconscious until the time of death.
The deceased was born in Franklin township, a daughter of the late Nicholas L and Elizabeth (Chamberlain) Biesecker, and spent her entire life in Adams county. She was a member of the Orrtanna Methodist Episcopal church and of the Ladies’ Aid Society.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son and four daughters: Mrs. Dorsey Herring, Orrtanna; Byron J, Orrtanna; Mrs. Helen Mellinger, at home; Mrs. Warren Boyer, Biglerville; Mrs. George Harbaugh, Gettysburg R D; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Charles W Biesecker, John E. Biesecker and Ira O. Biesecker all of Orrtanna.
Brief funeral services from the late home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 with further services at 2:00 at the Orrtanna Methodist Episcopal church conducted by the Rev. Harold Millard. Interment in Flohr’s cemetery.
