Calvin was my gt gt gt grandfather. He was the son of George and Adelphia Leggett Matthews. He married Sarah Thompson in 1828 and they had seven/eight children, Madison, Perry, John T., Jane, Joel, George and Mahaly. There may have been one girl in between Madison and Perry. Calvin was a early settler in Morgan Co. IN. and Coles Co. IL. He married Eliza Jane Brashares after his first wife died. No children. He is buried in the Old Gordon Cem. in Coles Co. IL. which is also called the Lincoln Cem. because the father of Pres. Abraham Lincoln is buried there. I still don't have the exact date of Calvin's death and have based the year on the remarriage of his 2nd wife Eliza Jane who married Joseph Neely in 1871. If anyone out there has his death date I would be grateful for that information.
