Born May 11, 1906, he was a son of the late Edward A. and Jennie E. (Sheary) Varner. His wife, Elsie R. (Stidinger) Varner whom he married March 29, 1926, survives.
Also surviving are children, Rosy Naylor, Lewistown, Dale N. Varner, Sanford Fla.; brothers and sisters, Leonard A. Varner, Lewistown, J. Harold Varner, Arkansas, Roy E. Varner, Esther M. Walters, both of Mifflintown RD1, Blaine A. Varner, Harrisburg, Alma G Stuck, Thompsontown; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was owner and operator of Juniata Lumber Company, Arch Rock and was also a carpenter.
He was a member of the Arch Rock United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Jack L. Rider officiating.
