Mifflintown - Elsie R. Varner, 95, of Brookline Manor Convalescent Home, RR1, Mifflintown, and formerly of Arch Rock, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the manor.
Born Feb. 27, 1908, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary (Rapp) Stidinger. Her husband, Merrill W. Varner, preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1990.
Surviving are: a daughter, Rosy V. Naylor, Lewistown; a son, Dale N. Varner, Sanford, FL; two sisters, Rosy Stidinger, East Waterford and Beulah Goddard, Montoursville; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorthea Stidinger, Alma Varner, and Verna Stuck and a brother, Gerald Stidinger.
She was a member of the Arch Rock United Methodist Church, RR1 Mifflintown.
She was a homemaker.
Her funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Douglas Compton officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
