She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late William and Lucy Burris McClard. Her husband, Jim Alvis, preceded her in death in 1985. Also one daughter, Melba Wilson, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Eltie Alvis were conducted Thursday, June 16, 3 p.m. in the chapel of Alexander Macon County Funeral Home in Lafayette conducted by Bro. Deric McClard. Interment was in the Eulia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edison (Slick) Caruthers, Olie Harper, Bill Johnson, Randall Cothron, Melvin Casady, and Jerry Capps.
She is survived by one daughter, Dolly Celsor of Hartsville; one sister, Dortch Leath of Westmoreland; six grandchildren, Jim and Don Celsor, Jerry Watson, Wayne, Johnny and Richard Wilson; six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
