Service is to be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the West Funeral Home Chapel for Naomi Jane Evans, 77, 313 N. Eighth St., Loving, who died Wednesday at her home. Burial is to be in Carlsbad Cemetery, with the Rev. Gerald Harden and the Rev. Leonard foster conducting the services.
Pallbearers are to be Johnny Giovengo Sr., Ronnie Carroll, Randell Box, Billy Baker, Joe Baker and Bob Nymeyer.
Born June 18, 1901, in Nine, Texas, she was raised and educated in Brady, Texas, until moving to Las Vegas where she attended the Montezuma College. She married the late Sam Evans on June 3, 1917 at Hardin, Texas. In 1926, they moved to Loving where she owned and operated the Evans boarding house for over 37 years. She also helped at the Dari-Kup Drive-In in Loving. She was a member of the Loving Baptist Church, and of the Brag and Boast Grandmothers Club.
Survivors include a son, James J. Evans, Loving; a grandson and a great-grandson.
