WORKER, DIES
Sam Evans, 67, retired employee of U.S. Potash Refinery, died today in a local hospital.
Funeral services are pending at West Funeral Home for the man who came to New Mexico in 1918 from Coleman, Tex. Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery.
He made his home in Loving. He held various positions at the refinery since 1933 until June, 1947 when he suffered a heart attack. He later became gate watchman at the refinery until his retirement in August, 1957.
He was born July 27, 1890, in McCulloch County, Tex. He married Naomi Elliott on June 3, 1917 in Coleman County, Tex. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Naomi Evans of Loving; a son, Jerry Evans, stationed on Midway with the Navy; three brothers, Loyd Evans, Tahoka, Tex., Bill and Jess Evans of Dallas, Tex., and a sister, Mrs. Rachael Everts of Austin, Tex.
