JOHN ELLIOTT
John Elliott, 84, 4107 Townsend Road, died Friday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services are scheduled Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with the Rev. Garry Fine of the Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born Jan. 28, 1903 at Nine, Texas, he came to Carlsbad in the early 1930's and helped with the construction of U.S. Potash and Refinery. Later, Elliott went to work for U.S. Potash as a train engineer. He retired in 1965, continuing to reside in Carlsbad.
He has resided at Lakeview Christian Home for five years.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Whygles and Mary Elliott, both of Carlsbad; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Evans, Loving; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
