Savoy Man Burned At GE Plant Dies

Walter Maluda 45 of the Brier section of Savoy, an employee of the power plant: at the General Electric's main apparatus works in Pittsfield, died this morning of burns suffered at his work yesterday afternnon.

The accident occured shortly after 2 o'clock, when Mr. Maluda removed a hand plate on a boiler preparator; to cleaning the boiler. Boiling water gushed out, scalding practically his entire body. He was attended by Dr. E.G. Eagnulo, plant physcian who had him rushed to the hospital in the company ambulance.

Mr. Maluda was born in Adams in February 1906, a son of Joseph and Agnes Maluda. He moved to Savoy as a young boy, and attended # 7 school. He was married to the former Catherine Zwiercan of Windsor 17 years ago. They lived in North Adams for a short time, and thirteen years ago moved to the home place in the Brier. He has been an employee of the General Electric company for the last 10 years.

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves 3 children. Catherine, Walterina, and Jan. Four brothers, Albert of Nashville, Ga., Frank with the Army in Okinawa, Anthony of Pittsfield, Joseph of Adams, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Nellie Berry of Pittsfield, Mrs. Carrie Radlowski of Cheshire, and Mrs. Francis Sadlow of Savoy.

Funeral Arrangements are in charge of the Trottier funeral home in Adams, are incomlete.

Funeral Services for Walter Maluda of Savoy, who died Saturday morning at Hillcrest hospital, Pittsfield, from burns received at his work Friday at the Pittsfield General Electric company, were held at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Stanislaus Kostka church.

Rev. Ladislaus Meczywor, M L C of Eden Hill. Stockbridge, officated at a requiem high mass, Rev. Joseph J. Sitkowski, assistant pastor, conducted a prayer service at the Trottier funeral home proceeding the funeral.

The bearers were Albert Maluda of Nashville, Ga., Joseph Maluda of Pittsfield, all brother, Albert Sadlow of Savoy, Obed Berry, and Joseph Radlowski of Pittsfield. Burial was in St. Stanislaus cemetery. Fr. Meczywor and Rev. John P. Skowronski, curate, officiated at the committal rites.
