-Sgt. Francis (Frank) Maluda is spending a three-week furlough with his mother, Mrs Agnes Maluda of Griffin Road. He made the trip here from Nebraska by car in three days. He expects to fly to Camp Stoneham, Ca.,to report for duty before sailing about May 1 for the Far East.

FRANK MALUDA OUT OF SERVICE AFTER ISLAND HITCH

Frank Maluda, 27, son of John and Agnes Maluda has returned home from Okinawa, where he has served for the last 19 months with the U.S. Air Force, and will try being a civilian again.

Mr. Maluda's first hitch as a service man was in 1945 and 1946, when he left with a draft quota. After basic training in the United States, he was sent to Japan where he was on duty for six months before being discharged. Two years later he enlisted for three more years in the Air Force taking training in engine mechanics. He continued engine mechanical work on Okinawa and later most of his work was on propellors only, At the time of his release he held the rating of Staff Sergeant.

Mr. Maluda plans to go into either aircraft production work or with an airline where his expertise qualifies him for the work.

Frank J. Maluda, 51, a retired state traffic foreman, died this mornig at the Pittsfield General Unit. BMC, after a long illness.

Mr. Maluda who lived on Caldwell Road, was a traffic foreman for the state Department of Public Works in Lenox for 18 years, retiring last year because of ill health.

A native of Washington. He lived in Savoy before moving to Pittsfield 23 years ago. He was the son of the late John and Agnes Bigda Maluda.

Mr. Maluda was an Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was communicant of Holy Family Church.

He is survived by his wife the former Ilene Zajchowski to whom he was married 21 years last November, one son Frank J. Maluda Jr; two daughters, Misses Janice Maluda and Susan M. Maluda, both of Pittsfield; three brothers, Albert, Joseph and Anthony,; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Sadlow, and Mrs. Carrie Radlowski;

Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Dery Funeral Home with a liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friend may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
