"Your son was a crew member aboard a B-24 type aircraft, No. 42-7534. which failed to return to it's base after a bombing mission to Delmenhorst, Germany. No definite infomation concerning the loss of the crew is available, other than the statement of another member of the formation that the plane was hit by antiaircraft fire over the target and that it was slowly losing altitude when last seen.
The records of the Department of the Army are, therefore, being amended to show that Sergeant Maluda was killed in action on 20 December 1943 when his plane was forced down into the North Sea by enemy action."
