Mrs. Walter E. (Serena M.) Mahnke, 61, of 2005 Division St., Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, Dec. 22, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kenneth Fisk will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Mahnke, nee Serena Smasal, was born Aug. 14, 1918, at St. Nazianz, daughter of the late Peter and Helen Loos Smasal. She was raised and educated at St. Nazianz and had been a Manitowoc resident since 1942. She was married to Walter E. Mahnke July 1, 1942, at Manitowoc. He preceded her in death July 25, 1978. Mrs. Mahnke was a member of Women's Auxiliary of VFW Otto Oas Post No. 659.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Cyrus and Gerry Mahnke of Tinley Park, Ill., a sister, Mrs. Aurelia Biedenbender of Chilton, two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until the time of service.
