Smasal, Alvin J. Alvin J. Smasal, 59, of 2014 Railroad St., New Holstein, died in his sleep Saturday at the Wisconsin Hotel, New Holstein. He was a resident of New Holstein since 1965.

Born in the Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, on Dec. 27, 1912, he was a son of the late Peter and Helena Loos Smasal. He attended Town of Schleswig area schools. He was employed by the Lauson Engine Division of Tecumseh Products Co. at New Holstein since 1965.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Edward Biedenbender, Chilton, and Mrs. Walter Mahnke, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Erbe-Evjen Funeral Home in New Holstein with the Rev. Ralph Hermsen, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, officiating. Burial will be in St. Gregory's Parish Cemetery, St. Nazianz. Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. today until the time of services.
