WALTER MAHNKE

Walter E. Mahnke, 85, formerly of 1218 S. 19th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon in Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Friday in Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kenneth Fisk will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military rites will be accorded Mr. Mahnke by Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto-Oas Post 659 of Manitowoc.

Mr. Mahnke was born Feb. 25, 1893 in Sheboygan, son of the late Charles and Emily Kuether Mahnke. He was educated in Sheboygan and had resided in Manitowoc, where he was employed with Mirro Aluminum Co., since 1940, retiring in 1955. He married Serene M. Smasal July 1, 1942 in Manitowoc. Mr. Mahnke was a veteran of World War I and a member of VFW Otto-Oas Post No. 659

Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, Cyrus and Gerry Mahnke of Tinley Park, Ill., two sisters, Mrs. Irene Beyer of Sheboygan and Mrs. Emma Kather of Milwaukee. Three brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call in Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Hmoe 4 pm to 9 pm Thursday and Friday until the time of service.
