Mrs. Carl Josephsen, 67, passed away Monday evening at the Atlantic Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Saturday for treatment of pneumonia and a heart condition. Martha Petersen Josephsen was born January 10, 1893 in Shelby County, the daughter of Anton and Anna Petersen, and was married to Carl Josephsen in 1915. They farmed east of Exira until moving to Anita in 1950. After retiring they resided in Anita.

Martha is survived by her husband; two sons, Richard and Robert Josephsen of Exira; six grandchildren; two brothers, Anton Petersen of Atlantic and Arthur Petersen of Anita. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, three brothers and two infant grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 at the Exira Christian Church. Rev. Loren Works of Audubon will officiate. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery. –Anita Tribune, December 1, 1960
