Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home for Anton C. "Tony" Petersen, 74, of Atlantic, a former Anitan. Larry Garrett of First Church of Christ officiated. Mrs. Larry Fief played the organ selections, "In The Garden'" and "How Great Thou Art." Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Dorsey and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Cooper were in charge of the flowers. Casket bearers were Glen Jensen, Dale Schwartz, Jack Camp, Wilbur Brixius, Nels Christensen and Irvin Dorsey. Interment was in Anita Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Petersen, son of Anton and Anna Petersen, was born near Jacksonville on May 26 1903 and passed away Friday morning, July 15 at the Atlantic Care Center where he had resided for some time. Mr. Petersen came to Anita a number of years ago, living here and in Atlantic most of his life except for a year at Exira. In 1941, he moved to Atlantic and was employed by the Atlantic Lumber co. for 25 years until his retirement in May 1965. He was married to Velma Pearl Dorsey of Anita and she passed away July 14 1975.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bernard (LaVern) Martens of Griswold, Mrs. Earl (Roberta) Christensen of Fontanelle, and Mrs Howard (Judy) Paulsen of Brayton; two sons, Max and James of Atlantic; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother Arthur Petersen of Elk Horn; also a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several sisters and brothers.
