James C. Brown was born on February 20, 1817 in Allegheny County to parents John Glass Brown(1780-1853) and Mary Elliott(1786-1868).
He was one of ten children: George, Jane Eliza, John Gordon, Margaret, Mary Ann, Reed Bracken, Samuel Glass, Robert Elliott and William.
He married Margaret Jane Burns(1828-1905) in1853 in Butler County where they made their home and raised their only daughter Anna Jemima Brown(1854-1905). Margaret and Anna are laid to rest together in Lot #125.
James died on October 4, 1891 in Middlesex Township and is laid to rest in Middlesex United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 116 Church Rd Butler, PA.
