John Glass Brown of Scottish descent was the son of George(1750-1840)and Mary Glass(1756-1810)Brown. He was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania. John was one of six children: Ann, William, James, Mary Jane and Margaret.

John married Mary Elliott(1786-1868) January 16, 1806 in Allegheny County, Pa. They had ten children together: Robert Elliott, Margaret, George, Samuel Glass, John Gordon, James C., William, Mary Ann, Eliza Jane and Reed Bracken.

John Glass Brown died October 14, 1853 in Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pa. and is laid to rest next to his wife Mary in Middlesex Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Butler County, Pa.
