Mrs. Charles Baker dies on Friday
Mrs. Charles G. (Ellen B.) Baker, 82, a patient in Knutson Manor, died Friday at Allen Memorial hospital. She had been ill the past two years. The funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Monday at Dietz Colonial Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Lawns cemetery.
Born in Turkey Creek community south of EI Dorado, Mrs. Baker had been a resident of this area all her life.
She and Mr. Baker were married here on February 16, 1908.
She was a member of the First United Methodist church, Circle Seven of the United Methodist women, and the CheerUp Band Sunday School class. Other memberships included: Susannah French Putney Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; Sunflower Grandmothers' Club, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She helped to organize the Vanora E.H. U. when it was known as a Farm Bureau Unit. She was a charter member of that organization.
She is survived by: her husband, also a patient at Knutson Manor; two sons, Joe H. Baker, Kent. Washington, and Clyde D. Baker, Route One; four daughters, Mrs. NovaI Faires, Route One, Mrs. Stewart McCreight, 115 S. Orchard, Mrs. Richard W. Smith, 300 S. Taylor, and Mrs. Russell B. Snyder, 1821 Chelsea Drive; 14 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a son, a great-grandson, and two brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles G. (Ellen B.) Baker, 82, Route 1 who died here Friday, were conducted Monday afternoon at Dietz Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Melvin Short, pastor of the First United Methodist church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. C. M. Nutter, staff member of the church.
Mr. and Mrs. James D. Allen sang, "How Great Thou Art," in duet, and Mrs. Allen sang "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs. Paul Graham, Jr., was the organist.
Casket bearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were: Bill Baker, Dr. Wesley L. Faires, Donald Baker, Kenneth Baker, Larry E. McCreight, Charles W. Smith, Mark E. Snyder, and Scott A. Snyder.
Interment was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

The service was read by the Rev. James of the First Methodist Church. Both were born in Butler County, Mr. Baker at Cassoday, and Mrs. Baker south of town in the Turkey Creek community.
Mr. Baker has lived on the same farm since he was four years old, and he and Mrs. Baker built their present spacious home, four miles south of EI Dorado, on Haverhill Road, in 1916.
