Francis L. Bitner was born May 12, 1916, at Queen City, Mo., to Albert Bitner and Emma Spears Bitner. Mr. Bitner, 70 of Ottumwa, Iowa, died June 6, 1986, at St. Joseph Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the local Eagles Lodge. He married Bernice Lagerstrom in 1934 at Lancaster, Mo. She died in 1984.

He is survived by a son, LaVone(Swede)Bitner of Rayville, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great grand-children; a brother, Gene of Ottumwa; three sisters, Bertha Jackobs of Sheridan, Wyoming, Ethel Hawkins and Gethel Garrison, both of Ottumwa.

Services were Monday, June 9, 1986 at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Russell Sporer officiated. Burial was in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim, Mike, and Rick Brown, Dave and John Handling, and Harry Conners.
