Charles H. Draper Dies This Morning
Retired Teamster Is Taken By Death

Charles Henry Draper, 76, retired Decatur teamster and well-known local resident, died this morning at 1:20 o'clock at the Adams county memorial hospital.

Death followed an operation and was attributed to a strangulated hernia. He had been ill only one week.

Mr. Draper was born in Ohio September 24, 1853 (or 1865; difficult to read), the son of Jeremiah and Mary Haggard-Draper. He had resided in Decatur for the past 60 years. At the time of his death he resided at 516 St. Mary's street. His wife, Eva, preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Virgil of route six, Ralph, of Decatur; a daughter, Mrs. Cecil Gause, of this city, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Laisure of Monroeville and Mrs. Luck Small of Miles, Wis.; two brothers, William Draper of Decatur and John of Monroeville.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Gause residence, 122 South Eighth street and burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Rev. George S. Lozier and Rev. D. W. Patterson will officiate.
The body will be taken from the Gillig and Doan funeral home to the Gause residence at 10 a.m. Thursday and may be viewed there until time for the services.
