Grandson of Laurence McQuillan and Margaret Kirwin both from County Lough, North Ireland.

Son of John McQuillan, born 1840 in County Louth, Northern Ireland. and Sarah Gavin, born 1843 Northern Ireland. Came to United States together with their infant baby daughter Margaret " Maggie " McQuillan, born 1865 in Ireland. Boarded the Ship S.S. Queen in 1866. Sailing from Liverpool, England, arriving Port of New York on August 23, 1866. Place of Origin, Ireland.

Settled in:
Shortsville, Manchester, Ontario County, New York. Upon arrival John McQuillan, filed his naturalization papers in Ontario County, New York in 1968. His father John McQuillan worked at a paper mill in Shortsville, New York.

Nephew to:
Mary Ann McQuillan born 1834.
Patrick McQuillan born 1838.
Bridget McQuillan born 1843.
All siblings born and raised in Lough, Ireland.



Sister, Margaret "Maggie," McQuillan, born 1865 in Ireland.

James was the first of John McQuillan's children to be born a United States Citizen. Married 1906. To Katherine McCabe. No children with this marriage.
