Sarah, age 24 together with her husband
John McQuillan, age 26, born 1840 in County Louth, Northern Ireland. With their infant baby daughter Margaret " Maggie " McQuillan, born 1865 in Ireland. Boarded the Ship S.S. Queen in 1866. Sailing from Liverpool, England, arriving Port of New York on August 23, 1866. Place of Origin, Ireland.


Settled in:
Shortsville, Manchester, Ontario County, New York. Upon arrival her husband John, worked at a paper mill in Shortsville.

Daughter, Margaret "Maggie" McQuillan, born 1865 Ireland.

Son James McQuillan, born November 1866. James was the first of John McQuillan's children to be born a U.S. citizen.

Then in 1868 other son John Edward McQuillan.

By October of 1869 another son Lawrence McQuillan. was born.

By the 1870 census they already have four children.

Another daughter born May 1871 which they named Mary McQuillan.

A son born named Mark McQuillan, year 1872.

Daughter Sarah McQuillan, born 1874.

By May 18, 1876 a son Venantius McQuillan.

Born 1877, Thomas McQuillan.

Son born April 09, 1879 Philip Findley McQuillan.

Son Peter McQuillan, born 1880.

Daughter Jane Francis McQuillan, born March 08, 1885.


Eleven of their children was born Shortsville, Manchester, Ontario County, New York.

Shortsville Entrerprise Friday, April 28, 1911.

Word has been recieved in this village the death of Mrs. Sarah Gavin McQuillan, widow of John McQuillan who died April 25, 1905. Which occurred suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jane Francis McQuillan Kinney, at Connellsville, Pennyslvania, last Thrusday evening. She had been in poor health for some time, but was only confined to her bed for three days. Aged seventy years a former residence of Shortsville, New York. Making her home for many years on Sheldon Street. She left this village about a year ago to make her home with daughter Jane at Niagra Falls New York. And few months ago moved to Connellsville Pennsylvania. Besides her daughter, she is survied by five sons.

Son Philip Findley McQuillan. United States Army Signal Corps, Alaska. Wife Gladys Blanche Nichols. of Juneau Alaska.

Son James McQuillan, wife Katherine McCabe. of Lima New York.

Son John Edward McQuillan, And son Mark McQuillan, both of Shortsville, New York.

Son Venantius McQuillan of Connellsville, Pennsylvania.

Daughter Jane Francis McQuillan, husband Charles Augustus Kinney of Connellsville Pennsylvania.

Six of his children presided her in death.

Daughter Margaret "Maggie," McQuillan, age seven died 1872.

Son Lawrence McQuillan, age five died 1874.

Daughter Mary McQuillan, age six died 1877.

Daughter Sarah McQuillan, age six died 1880.

Son Thomas McQuillan, died 1899 at age 22.

Son Peter McQuillan died in infancy 1881.

The funeral services held at Connellsville. Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York on Monday afternoon at one o'clock.
