Funeral services for Melvin Alford, 69, were held 2 p.m. Monday, April 4 at Mt. Pisgah Pentecostal Church.... Interment was in the Alford Cemetery in Greene County with Freeman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Alford died in the Greene County Hospital, Friday, April 1. He had worked as a mechanic for Mobile City Transport Company. He was born in Greene County, August 27, 1913 and was a member of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl E. Alford; five sons, Mervin J. Alford, Mobile, Ala., Marshall C. Alford, Amarillo, Tex., Larry Thomas Alford, Semmes, Ala., Melvin Alford, Jr., Pensacola, Fla., and Johnny Lee Alford, Lucedale; five daughters, Mrs. Malrae Lubner, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Vivian Ingram, Warrington, Fla., Mrs. Charlene Patrick, EL Paso, Tex., Mrs. Joyce Ann Gray, Vinegar Bend, Ala., and Miss Judy Gale Alford, Rt. 5, Lucedale; one brother, Ellis Alford, Philadelphia, Miss.; six sisters, Mrs. Martha Beech, Mrs. Allie Vess, both of Lucedale, Mrs. Pearline McDonald, Alpine, Ore., Mrs. Ellen Cooley, Vinegar Bend, Ala., Mrs. Myrtle Hopkins, Saraland, Ala., and Mrs. Mavis Crocker, Turnerville, Ala., and 18 grandchildren.
