Letha Elizabeth Castner, 88, of Taylor Road died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she belonged to Missionary Circle and Ladies Aid Society and had taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school.

Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Evelyn Brown officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County.

Mrs. Castner was born in Columbus Feb. 17, 1911, the daughter of William Arnold and Hattie Mary White Battin. She married Paul V. Castner June 22, 1933. He died June 30, 1997.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Richardson of Benicia, Calif., and Mary Holland of Phoenix; grandchildren, Jeff and Brooke Holland, both of Phoenix; brothers, Dallas and Maurice Battin, both of Columbus, Howard Battin of Carson, Calif., and Robert Battin of Phoenix; and sisters, Marjorie Jacobs of Naples, Fla., and Betty Clark of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Battin; and a sister, Doris Ping.
