Dallas E. Battin, 89, of Hope died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.

Mr. Battin retired from Cosco Inc. where he worked for 25 years and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Stewart Schulz officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.

Born in Columbus Feb. 23, 1914, Mr. Battin was the son of William and Hattie White Battin. He married Thelma M. Steinbarger Oct. 20, 1936.

Survivors include sons, John E. and Jim L. Battin, both of Columbus; granddaughters, Samantha Harpring and Steffany VanEpps; brothers, Robert Battin of California and Maurice Battin of Columbus; sisters, Marjorie Jacobs and Betty Clark, both of Columbus; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on March 21, 1999; brothers, William and Howard Battin; and sisters, Letha Castner and Doris Ping.
