Maurice Lee Battin, 91, of Columbus died 11:40 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Mr. Battin was born in Bartholomew County to the late William A. and Hattie M. White Battin. He married Joyce Marie Thompson July 16, 1948 in Georgia; she preceded him in death July 28, 1995. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-24 gun turret repair specialist in Italy. He worked 30 years for Reliance Electric retiring as Supervisor of Process Engineering. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, was an avid gardener, he loved to travel with his wife, loved his grandchildren and could fix anything broken.

He is survived by daughters, Pamela (Richard) Sheets of Fishers, IN and Rebecca (Doug) Bell of Columbus, IN; son, Laurence Gene Battin of Lansing, MI; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Richard Lee and Maurice Lee Battin, Jr.; four brothers and five sisters.

Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will b held from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial with military rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard in Garland Brook Cemetery.
