Born Nov. 17, 1917, in Ashton
Parents: Stanley and Veronica (Kwiatkowski) Smedra
Attended school at District 6
Married: June 28, 1937, to Harry Curtis at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton
Was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Sherman County for 13 years; worked for J.C. Penney in Omaha for 23 years; retired in 1980; couple moved to Ravenna in 1983
Activities: past member of Immaculate Conception Altar Society Sodality in Omaha, Ravenna Garden Club, and was extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and a member of the Council of Catholic Women at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna; enjoyed bus trips, gardening, putting puzzles together and playing bingo
Survivors include her husband; sons, Don Curtis and his wife, Donna, and LaVern Curtis, all of Ravenna; daughters, Joan Summers of Austin, Texas, and Kathleen Sobetski and her husband, Thomas, of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Rita Meyer and her husband, Donald, of Northglenn, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Rita Smedra of Omaha
Was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Louis Smedra and Andrew Smedra; son-in-law, Duane Summers; and granddaughter, Debra Curtis
