Obituary:

Veronica Smedra, 86 years, of Omaha died Sunday, Sept. 27 at an Omaha hospital.

Services were conducted Sept. 30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Ralph Sherrer officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry, Myron, and Stanley Smedra, Lavern Curtis and Tom Sobetski of Omaha and Donald Curtis of Ravenna.

Vernie Kwiatkowski Smedra was born on Jan. 26, 1895 at Ashton. On Feb. 13, 1917 she was married to Stanley Smedra. The Smedras farmed in the Ashton area before moving to Omaha in 1949.

Mrs. Smedra is survived by her husband, Stanley Smedra, who resides at Hallmarch Nursing Home, 5505 Grover St., Omaha, NE 68106 and two sons Louis and Andrew Smedra of Omaha; two daughters Mrs. Harry (Mae) Curtis of Omaha, Mrs. Donald (Rita) Meyers [sic] of Denver, CO; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Badura of Ashton and Mrs. Helen Janulewicz of Loup City, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Sylvester Kwiatkowski, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Lukasewski.
