In 1820 William was appointed Ass't. Superintendent of Union Mission to the Osage Indians located at what is now Mayes County, OK. William's first cousin George Requa (their fathers were brothers who married Comb sisters), was also associated with Union Mission then later with Harmony Mission at present-day Bates County, MO.
