Josephine Grubbs was the daughter of John Cloud Grubbs and Susan Austen. The Grubbs family moved to Oregon in 1852 via the Oregon Trail, settling on a Donation Land Claim in Benton County. Josephine married John Wesley McBee on July 21, 1874 in Benton County. They had five children: Jesse Austin, Henry Burton, Elmer Francis, Lily Myrtle, and John Wesley.
