Hugh M. Anderson, 76

CHURCH HILL - Hugh M. Anderson, 76, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday (December 7, 2008) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Anderson was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a faithful member of Lewis Lane Central Baptist Church where he had served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was a retired employee of Holliston Mills with 33 years service and 11 years in construction. He was a former member of the Church Hill Rescue Squad and was a member of Clay Masonic Lodge # 386, Jericho Shrine Temple, Knoxville Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons, York Rite Bodies, Fairview Chapter # 80 OES, Bellamy Memorial Lodge of Odd Fellows. Hugh was a former alderman of Church Hill and former member of Church Hill Planning Committee. He had also served as an auxiliary policeman and Hawkins County constable.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nettie Wade Anderson, grandson, Brandon Langsford and brother, Roy Anderson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Annie Sue Clifton Anderson, Church Hill; three sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh, Jr., "Hughie" and Norma Anderson, Church Hill; Timothy "Spider" Anderson, Rogersville; Jeffery and Margaret Anderson, Gate City; one daughter, Susan Anderson, Church Hill; 4 grandchildren, Mikayla Evans, Katherine Burress, Destiny Anderson and Marianne Anderson; one sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Johnny Castel, Gate City; five brothers, Bill and Mary Anderson, Harriman, TN; Joe Anderson, Surgoinsville; Rev. Jerry and Carolyn Anderson, Church Hill; Danny and Ruby Anderson, Kingston, TN; Charles and Patricia Anderson, Gate City; several loved nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home with a Masonic memorial service conducted by Clay Lodge # 386 following the visitation. Friends may call anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Lewis Lane Central Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Hammond and Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
