Fonda was my 4th cousin through her mother, Mary Luella Wilson Light.
On December 4, 2008, Fonda Gale Light Mellen left the loving arms of her family and stepped into the loving arms of her Father in Heaven and family beyond the veil. She was four days short of 74-years-old.
Fonda was born December 8, 1934 in Neola, Utah to Victor Irven Light and Mary Luella Wilson. She married the love of her life and eternal companion Fredrick Wesley Mellen on June 12, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 56 1/2 years. Fonda gave service to others every day. She was a valiant member of the LDS Church. She loved primary and especially her "Firelight" class of 1963.
Fonda was survived by her husband Fred, daughter Susan (Gary) Fowler, sons Steven (Denice) Mellen, Michael (Alisa) Mellen, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, six brothers and sisters Louise (Bob) Pistorius, Robert (Naomi) Light, Velda (Marvin) Burton, Irene (Mike) Bird, Rose (Lee) Watts, Aaron (Gail) Light, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A viewing was held on Monday, December 8, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the Jordan Parkway Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3940 South 1500 West in West Valley City, Utah. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM.
Fonda was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Taylorsville Memorial Park Cemetery in Taylorsville, Utah.
