Annie Purdue

Annie B. (Alvey) Purdue, 63, of Columbus, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Hospice South Central Indiana in Columbus.

Born July 27, 1944, in Brown County, she was the daughter of William R. and Stella (Hatton) Alvey. She was a 1962 graduate of the Brown County High School and had retired from Dolly Madison Bakery in Columbus.

She is survived by two sons, Anthony S. Purdue and Michael B. Purdue, both of Columbus; one daughter, Cindy Purdue of Columbus; four sisters, Corene Greathouse of Brown County and Nellie McQueary, Phyllis Garard and Nora Sebastian, all of Columbus; two brothers, Ora Alvey of Brown County and Paul Alvey of Columbus; five grandchildren, Brandy Purdue, Aimee Purdue, Allison Purdue, James Purdue and Samantha Purdue; and two great-grandsons, Alejandro Ortiz and Alonzo Alvarez.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Harris J. Alvey, Sam K. Alvey, Ronald G. Alvey, Arthur G. Alvey and William F. Alvey.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday July 8, at 1 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Krebbs officiating. Burial followed in Christiansburg Cemetery.

Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
