Mrs. Ida Tolbert, 89, a resident of the greater McAlester area for many years, died Tuesday in a McAlester hospital. Her home was at 39 West Apache. She was born Oct. 27, 1889 in Clarksville, Ark., and was married to Arthur Tolbert in Ozark, Ark., in 1905. They came to Oklahoma in 1921 and lived in Ashland before moving to McAlester in 1943. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Tolbert, in 1972. Survivors include the husband, five sons, Howard, Rufus and Sid of McAlester, Venoid of Laton, Calif., and Vernon of Campbell, Calif.; seven daughters, Effie Roberts, Beatrice Buckner, Pauline Allen, Mina Chastine of McAlester, Mable Batts of Kiowa, Otha Keith of Ozark, Ark., and Claudia Gough of Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Willie Buckner of McAlester; two brothers, Sid Acord of Ozark, Ark., and Leonard Acord of Fort Smith, Ark., 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Tolbert will lie in state at the Mills Funeral Home until Thursday morning. The family asked that those wanting to remember her make donations to the Heart Association. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Rev. Woodrow Cain will officiate and burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cementery with the Mills Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Homer Gorman, Ralph Stockton, Olen Russell, Emerson Virden, Robert B. Thomas and Tommy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Harley Mahanes, Joe Mullins, Floyd Perteet, Farris Kindrick, Hershel Gough, Buster Jones, Bill Jones, Bill Chapman and Foy L. Roberts.
