Howard J. Drane

On November 22nd, Thanksgiving Day, the life of Howard Judson Drane came to an end after four years illness. Services were held at Trewolla Funeral Home on Saturday morning, November 24th, at 10:30, with Rev. R. S. Lowe, minister of the Presbyterian Church, and Rev. M. J. Peden, Methodist pastor, officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery with Mr. Drane's six son-in-laws and his son, acting as pallbearers.

Mr. Drane was born in Winona on March 2nd, 1877, the son of the late Mrs. Alice Booth Drane and the late John H. Drane, both of whom were leaders in community and church activities. He spent his entire life here and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. For many years he was active in the transfer business, where his warm and friendly personality earned him numerous friends throughout the state.

On December 11, 1914, Mr. Drane was married to Miss Annie Brown of Liberty, and to this union seven children were born.

He is survived by his wife, six daughters, Mrs. Merlin Sarphie, McComb City, Mrs. George Klaus, Forest Park, Ga.; Mrs. L. F. Fowler, Jr., Mrs. Ed Lavender, and Mrs. B. W. Butler, all of Monroe, Louisiana; Mrs. Monroe Parker, Winona, and son, Judson Lee Drane of Abilene, Texas. Three sisters, Mrs. Alice Taylor, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Linda Bondurant, Marion, Va.; Mrs. Johnny Drane Harpole, Winona, and fifteen grandchildren.
