Edith Collett Hatch, 71, died on Monday, March 12, 1990 at her home. Born July 1, 1918 in Vernal, a daughter of Sylvanus and Ethel Wynne Stringham Collett. Married Clarence J. Hatch, on April 3, 1946 in Salt Lake City. He died on October 21, 1969. She was reared and educated in Vernal, graduating from Vernal High. She also graduated from BYU. She had lived in California, Arizona, and Farmington. She was a member of the Farmington Twenty-First Ward, and had served in the Primary presidency, was Young Women president, Stake Sunday School board member and Special Interest leader. She was a school teacher and had taught at Tolman Elementary in Bountiful. She was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. Surviving are two sons and four daughters, James A. and wife, Sandra Hatch, South Ogden; David S. and wife, Michelle Hatch, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Cathy J. and husband, S. Paul Cowley, Huntington; Susan A. Young, Springville; Ruth E. and husband, David L. Preece, Layton; Laurie W. and husband, Douglas Broadbent, Ogden; 22 grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Howard S. Collett, LaPoint; Carl S. Collett, Dutch John; Alice C. Snow, Jensen; Edna C. Raines, Maesar. Preceded in death by her husband and three brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Farmington North Stake Center, 729 West Shepherd Lane. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main Street, Kaysville, and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the Stake Center. Graveside Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the Vernal City Cemetery.Published in the Deseret News on 3/13/1990.
