On June 20, Jesus so very gently lifted Katie "Nell" (Cravens) Carr, 79, from her tired, worn body and carried her safely to her new home, no longer struggling to breathe or needing assistance to walk. Her heart's desire has been fulfilled.

She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Livingston, Tenn., and resided in Anderson all of her adult life. She retired from ALAC.

Nell was a member of Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Edward "Bud" Carr, whom she married in 1975; daughter, Frances (Roger) Phillips; son, Rick (Lori) Copeland; stepdaughter, Barbara (Steve) Phillips; stepson, Mark Carr; brothers, Roy (Freddie) Cravens and Hughey "Bay" Cravens; sister-in-law, Corene Cravens; special friends, Bill and Dorothy Ledbetter; father of her children, Bennie Copeland; four grandchildren, Lisa Hendricks, Lora (Louie) Hite, Keri (Bubby) Johnson and Jaime (Chris) Flory; five stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren, Katie Hendricks, Sadie Johnson, Noah Johnson, Trevor Flory, Bryce Flory, Drew Flory, Mary Hite and Roger Michael Hite; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family members wish to give a special thanks to their church family, Dr. Mares, Brandon, the nursing, respiratory and ER staffs at Saint John's Medical Center and the staff of Rawlins House.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ada (Garrett) Cravens; and brothers, Roden Cravens, R.V. Cravens, Buck Cravens and Oin "Tuty" Cravens.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., with Revs. Bill Ledbetter and Joe Roysden officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Walk Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the South Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
