Funeral services for Mr. Roden C. Cravens, 71, of Wedgewood Drive in Columbia, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, from the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Barwick and Rev. Bob Wells officiating. Burial was in the Polk Memorial Gardens with Williams Columbia Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cravens died Monday, May 20 at Maury Regional Hospita. He retired from Anderson Mattress Company in 1977, served as deacon for two Free Will Baptist churches in Anderson, IN, sung in three gospel quartets, and was a member of the Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Columbia.

Born in Livingston, he was the son of the late Albert and Ada (Garrett) Cravens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, R.V. Cravens, Arlie Cravens, and Owen Cravens; and a grandson, Brandon Cravens.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Corene (Bilbrey) Cravens, Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Gary Hunt-zinger, Spring Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Robyn Cravens, Rockvale; a sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Edward Carr, Anderson, IN; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roy and Freddie Cravens, McMinn-ville, and Hughey Cravens, Anderson, IN; and four grandchildren, two with spouses, Barry and Cynthia Huntzinger, Columbia, Ryan Huntzinger, Spring Hill, Joshua Cravens, Murfreesboro, and Victoria and Andy Baker, Cookeville. Pallbearers were John Neely, Phillip Parrish, Buddy Creel, Tommy Stanfill, John Nuby, and Rulen Griggs. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the men of the Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
