DeLoyd (a name he hated)was the son of Don E. & Gayle Huff Lichty of Leavittsburg, Ohio. 'Rammy', as his family affectionately called him, was the middle child in a family that included 2 brothers & 3 sisters.

He was 5'8", of slender build and sported the family 'red hair and green eyes'. 'Red', as he was known to his friends, had a funny sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious.

He was of the Nazarene faith.

He was employed at the Copperweld Steel Mill in Ohio. In the mid 1950's, for the health of his son, he moved his family to Greenacres City, Florida. Once there, daddy found employment with 'Alfars' which became'Alfars-Boutwell'and, finally, the 'T.G. Lee'
Ice Cream plant. Red worked his way up to foreman.

He spent one (school) year in Arizona, 1962-1963, w/ his first wife & children. They missed Florida. They moved back 'home'.

He was married twice. His first wife was Dora Culver. She was the mother of three of his children. They were married 18 years. His second wife was Mary Scarboro Zelek. She was the mother of one of his children. She had two children from a previous marriage.

He is the father of four (4) children: Nada Jean, Bren, David & Shelly. Nada Jean and his mother preceded him in death. Virgil, his cousin, was, also, Red's best friend.

Not long before his death, he became a fireman.

At the age of 42, he died suddenly, one morning, at his home in Greenacres City, Fl, from a massive heart attack while preparing for a doctor's visit. He was buried in his fireman's uniform and the fireman's symbol adorns his grave plaque.
