Edward was the son of James & Catherine (Myers) Buchanan. He married to Florence Maud Shoemaker on May 28, 1902 in Huntingdon with the Rev Smith of the Methodist Church performing the ceremony. They were the parents of two children: Preston Chalmer and Gladys M. Buchanan. Edward died at the home of his daugter Gladys Kyler in Mapleton and was buried with his wife in Bowmans Chapel Cemetery.
