Preston Chalmers Buchanan was a son of Edward L. Buchanan and Florence Maude (Shoemaker) Buchanan, and was born at Mapleton, Pa on December 16, 1902. He was united in marriage to Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Fouse in September of 1925. Kathryn had a son William Gerald Fouse (1922-1952)She and Preston did not have any children. Kathryn Elizabeth died of diabetes in 1928. Preston remarried to Miss Martha Frances Seager of Saxton, on Dec. 24, 1930 at Huntingdon.

Preston Buchanan was a member of the Mapleton Presbyterian Church.He had been employed by H. O. Andrews and Sons of Mapleton as a miller for the 20 years until the time of his death.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by two nephews who were reared in the their home, Max and Dale Seager of Mapleton Depot, R. D. He was also survived by one sister, Mrs. Murble (Gladys) Kyler of Mount Union.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 9,1961 at 3:30 p.m. at the Charles Seager home in Saxton. The Rev. Paul Kauffman, pastor of the Saxton Lutheran Church officiated.
