ERIE, KS. - Ava George, 88, Erie, KS, died Friday, October 8, 2004, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village, St. Paul, Kansas.
She was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Erie, Kansas, the daughter of Orton A. and Flora (Burlingame) Kinne.
She grew up and attended schools in Erie, graduating from Erie High School.
She received her teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS, and taught at No. 7 and No. 8 schools near Erie, KS.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Erie, and past treasurer of Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She enjoyed baking Angel Food cake and quilting.
On Nov. 1, 1940, she married William E. George, in Erie, Kansas. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Dale E. George, Albert, KS; a daughter, Kay George, LaCygne, KS; a brother, Kenneth Kinne, Erie,KS; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a brother, O.A. Kinne, Jr.; and a daughter, Nell C. George.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at First Christian Church, Erie, KS, with the Rev. Debi Lorenz officiating. Inurnment will be in East Hill Cemetery, Erie, Kansas.
