Held at Hart Baptist Church Sunday

Funeral services for C.J. Armstrong, 37, were conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hart Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Johnson, pastor, and Rev. Murle Rogers of the Sunnyside Baptist Church at Sunnyside officiating. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. Armstrong was found dead at 3 p.m. Thursday with a .22 caliber slug through his right temple. He was lying on the ground near his car at the roadside park just south of Dimmitt. Justice of the Peace, Bruce Wooddell of Dimmitt returned a verdict of death by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Pallbearers were Freddie Lilly, Jimmy Marlor, Lloyd Davis, Truman Swopes, Jimmy Allred, Hershel McMillian.

Honorary Pallbearers were Hubert McLlain, L.J. Rice, Phillip Jones, Sterling Hunnicutt, Luther Covington, J.W. Lemmons.

He is survived by a son, Richard, a daughter, Genevieve, both of Amarillo, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Armstrong of Hart.

Two brothers, Deward of Hart, and Charles of the US Navy, Five sisters, Mrs. Mozelle Lilley, Sunnyside; Mrs. Nell Brooks, Dimmitt; Mrs. Alyeen Lilley, Dimmitt; Mrs. Marie Marlor, Lorenzo; and Mrs. Joe Hankins, Hart. Burial was in the Hart Cemetery under the direction of Dennis Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
