FLIPPIN, Ark. - Charles "Sonny" Armstrong, 68, formerly of Dimmitt, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dimmitt First Baptist Church in Dimmitt, Texas with the Rev. Paul Kenley officiating. Burial will be in the Hart Cemetery in Hart, Texas.

A son of the late Johnny and Dovie McCrary Armstrong, Sonny was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Castro County, Texas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the USS Helena organization. He was a longtime member of Dimmitt First Baptist Church and a retired agricultural equipment salesman. Sonny and his wife, Ann, moved from Dimmitt to Flippin in 1999, where they were members of Rea Valley Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, C.J., Deward and Harold Armstrong; and two sisters, Alene Lilley and Marie Larlar.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ann Smith Armstrong; two sons and their wives, Trent and Cindy Armstrong of Lewisville, Texas, and Bryan and Chris Armstrong of Simonton, Texas; three sisters, Mozelle Lilley of Dimmitt, Jo Mason and husband Lee of Wildorado, Texas, and Nell Brooks and husband Bob of Amarillo, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of the Ozarks-Hospice House, 774 Long St., Mountain Home, AR 72653; or Rea Valley Baptist Church, P.O. Box 847, Flippin, AR 726423.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt.
