(obit from Cedar Rapids Gazette) Adeline A. Garey was born near Watkins Jan. 27 1866 being 46 years old at the time of her death. When she was five years of age, her father, L. Garey, moved to the "Wild Cat" neighborhood near Marion. On June 6, 1889 she was married to John Grassfield and they have made their home most of the time since then in Marion. She is survived by her husband and four children, Ralph, Stewart, John and Mignon and by a sister Mrs. Minnie Buck of Kansas. Word was received Tuesday evening that her father, L. Garey of Glencoe, MN was thought to be dying and by this time this appears in print he may have accompanied his daughter to the great beyond. The funeral of Mrs Grassfield will be private. It will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'[clock and the burial will be in Oak Shade Cemetery.
(Fri. March 1, 1912) Funeral of Mrs John Grassfield , whose death occurred Wed. morning, will be held this afternoon. The services will be conducted at 2 o'clock at the residence. Rev. Beatty will officiate and the interment will be in Oak Shade cemetery. It has been announce that the services would be private but this was in error.
